— Rosé - La
Strada
Rosé by definition is made from 100% red grapes
with minimal skin contact (usually about 24 hours), then
pressed and fermented like a white wine with in a slightly
pink colour due to the short time on skins.
It is usually made from grapes with insufficient colour,
concentration and tannin structure to produce a high quality
red wine. The Rosé at its best is a refreshing,
vibrant summer wine. The dryer styles are excellent with
cold, light lunches.
Our Rosé generally is a by-product of a quality
measure called “saignée”, translated
“bleeding”, which in our case means draining
of between 3-6% free-run juice from red wine must before
fermentation.
