Fromm weingut Malans, Switzerland
In Malans, work takes place in two wine cellars.
The older one, which Georg’s great grandfather
already used to vinify grapes, is a constant reminder
of the heritage and history dating back for generations.
This cellar is a hive of activity during vintage
time, it sees the unloading of hand picked grapes,
crushing and pressing. All fermentation processes
take place here and later the bottling of finished
wines.
The newer cellar, carved in 1989 under the house,
is where the wines slowly mature naturally, either
in wine-tanks or in ever increasing numbers of small
oak barriques. The intention is not to produce wooded
wines, but ones with enriched the aromas and added
complexity of them. |
