Vineyards - Blenheim
Fromm Winery began planting its vineyard in Blenheim in
1992 at a time when the Marlborough region was mainly
known for its white wines. Yet Georg Fromm realised that
a climate favourable to Chardonnay should also produce
very good reds, particularly Pinot Noir. Pioneering the
red wine industry in Marlborough, he intuitively turned
the company’s focus toward investing and experimenting
in red wine production.
True to the original vision, over half the output is Pinot
Noir, a strikingly powerful wine. With hand work, close
planting and four individual vineyards under control of
the Fromm team’ this direction proved to be very
successful.
Fromm Pinot Noir 94 Reserve excelled in Pinot Tasting
in Australia and Austria. Its successors have also achieved
this benchmarking high standard. |
