Bamfield Vineyard
Sue and David Bamfield love wine and food. On retirement,
the couple bought and established a vineyard. “Bamfield”.
The couple say “they joined Fromm in the search
for the Holy Grail – affordable, high quality Pinot
Noir“.
The Bamfields are keen followers of New Zealand’s
Integrated Wine Production programme, which encourages
strong environmental awareness and sustainable farming
practices. The vineyard has very little plant and equipment,
and is very labour intensive. Nothing is automated.
The Pinot Noir clones used are UCD5, UCD6, 10/5, 115 and
777 and an obscure Clone known locally as “Ata Rangi”.
Rootstocks used are 3309, Riparia Gloire, Schwarzmann,
and 420A. These are close planted with two metre row spacing
and 1.15m between the vines. more
